Keep a separate copy of what matters, and make sure your trusted person can use it. This guide does not activate, release or change any delivery.

Keep your originals, or open each delivery and use Download beside every file. For Private, unlock the delivery first. Open the downloaded files to check they are readable. Store them somewhere secure: these downloaded copies are not protected by ZeroLatch.
Open my deliveries →Copy your handoff instructions into your secure backup. In Settings, export your account record. That JSON includes settings and metadata, but no file contents. Private content in the export remains encrypted and needs its separate secret.
Open export settings →Tell your trusted person how to locate the backup and who to contact. Arrange access to any backup password separately. For Private, rehearse the separate password or recovery phrase. Never put real secrets into this checklist.
Start with the fictional recipient example below. For a real delivery rehearsal, contact support to plan the steps using a harmless file and an informed recipient. A live activation can send a real notice; never shorten your account schedule just to test it, because the schedule is shared by active deliveries.
Open the recipient example →With your trusted person, open the separate backup without relying on ZeroLatch. Confirm that the instructions and files make sense. Record the date in your own copy and repeat after changing files, devices or recipients.
Check-ins, release processing and recipient access rely on the online service. A backup does not automatically replace that process; your trusted person needs a separate way to find and use it.
