The "Publish or Perish" Strategy

Sometimes, the safest way to protect yourself is to ensure that silencing you doesn't silence your data. This is the core logic of a "warrant canary" or a whistleblower's dead man's switch.

If you are detained, your code/documents should be released to the public or to journalists.

Setting Up the Trigger

  1. Encrypted Payload: Archive your repo/documents. Encrypt securely.
  2. ZeroLatch: Upload the decryption key (or the data itself if small).
  3. Recipient: Set the recipient to a public mailing list, a journalist's secure drop, or a trusted ally.
  4. Short Interval: Set a 24-48 hour check-in.

Now, your freedom is the only thing keeping that data private. This changes the calculus for anyone trying to silence you.
